Pike’s Peak from the gate to Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, CO.
New Apartment building in Bend? The reaction has been vehement on both sides. The Seattle-based business won.
It’ll be interesting to see how Bendites react. IS it really the five feet, or is it the fact that opponents do not want change at all? Curious to ponder.
It’s no secret that Bend needs housing… and lots of it. With the influx of movers (reference our previous blog) coming into Oregon, the good use of space should be encouraged. But at what cost? It’s hard to tell.
On a recent trip to Denver and Colorado Springs, this writer really paid attention to the surroundings. Of course Mile High Stadium, Coors, National Western Stock Show and the Denver Events Center were very much worth the trip to the Mile High City.
Once out of the city limits, the Mountains could readily be seen from ground level. They’d be hard to miss! Being an Oregon Native, it felt amazing to get out on the open range and see the Rockies, with their seemingly infinite peaks… jagged and deceptive beauty stretching as far as the eye could see. We traveled down to the Durango area, and never ran out of views….
If this one building is allowed to come to fruition, will this set precedence? Oregonians like their state. A lot. We love being from here. We love living with nature in our back yard. We’ve fought hard over the past century to preserve Oregon’s beauty.
Is one building a big deal, or is it the gateway to living in the sky?
